Geography of Iran

Geography
In this map we can see the location of some of the major land forms of Iran. From the Elburz Mountains in the North to the Zagros Montians in  the west and the Dasht-e Lut Dessert in the East, there are all sorts of amazing things to see in Iran.


Mount Damavand


The Elberz Mountain Range is full of green fertile valleys and was considered the resting place of heros and gods in Persian Mythology. Mount Damavand is Iran's tallest mountain and stretches over 18,934 feet high. That's almost 19,000 feet!

Badab-e Surt

The magical land of Badab-e Surt can be found in northern Iran. The stair formations were created by mineral hot springs bubbling down the mountain for thousands of years.

Dasht-e Kavir

The central and eastern parts of Iran are covered by the Plateau of Iran. The Dasht-e Kavir is a salty sandstone desert. It is one of the hottest places on the planet.

Dasht-e Loot

Dasht-e Loot is a large salt desert in Central Iran. It is one of the largest, hottest, driest deserts in the world. The  surface of the sand can reach 159 °F. Wow!
